# Shopify's REST order update recalculates taxes when an unfulfilled order's shipping address changes, as of 2026-10

- **Provider:** Shopify
- **Endpoint:** `PUT /admin/api/{version}/orders/{id}.json`
- **Effective:** 2026-10-01
- **Severity:** medium
- **Change:** version-sunset
- **Status:** unverified (secondary reports only; SHAPI does not open fix PRs for it)

## What changed

As of Admin API version 2026-10, changing the shipping address of an unfulfilled order through the REST order update endpoint recalculates its taxes and totals against the new destination.

## What to do

After updating a shipping address, read the order's tax lines and totals again instead of assuming they are unchanged.
