What changed
OpenAI shuts down gpt-4o-2024-08-06, gpt-4o-2024-11-20, gpt-4o-mini-2024-07-18, gpt-4.1-2025-04-14 and gpt-4.1-mini-2025-04-14 on 2027-01-14, and fine-tunes of these models follow the same date. This advisory covers calls to the Responses API (POST /v1/responses) that send one of these models; openai-gpt-4o-gpt-4-1-snapshots-shutdown-2027-01-14 covers chat completions. The notice lists dated snapshots and does not say what happens to the undated gpt-4o or gpt-4o-mini aliases.
What to do
Replace these model names with gpt-6-luna (OpenAI's recommended replacement) in request bodies and config, re-run fine-tunes on a supported base model, and compare output quality before 2027-01-14. The same model names are also used on the Responses API.
